Senior Director Of Learning Design (essentials) at BrainPOP

Barbara H. has a diverse and extensive work experience history. Barbara began their career in education in 2008 as a Special Education Teacher for the NYC Department of Education. Barbara also served as an IEP Teacher and Special Education Instructional Lead, as well as a New Teacher Mentor during their time with the department. In 2009, Barbara became a Fellows Ambassador for the New York City Teaching Fellows program.

Barbara has also taught at various institutions, including Hunter College, where they worked as an Adjunct Lecturer, teaching courses on teaching students with special needs in inclusive settings and classroom management in special education and inclusive settings. Barbara also served as the Special Education Department Head at both the Academy of the City Charter School and The Ethical Community Charter School.

From 2012 to 2019, Barbara worked as a Doctoral Researcher at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, focusing on research related to education. Barbara then joined New Visions for Public Schools as a Curriculum Development and Professional Learning Manager, specializing in instructional access and special education.

In their most recent roles, Barbara has held positions at BrainPOP, where they started as the Director of Professional Learning in 2020. Barbara then moved on to become the Director of Learning Experience Design and is currently serving as the Senior Director of Learning Design (Essentials).

Throughout their career, Barbara has consistently demonstrated a commitment to inclusive education, professional development, and curriculum design.

Barbara H. pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their Master of Science (MS) degree in Special Education and Teaching from Long Island University. Barbara attended this institution from 2008 to 2010. Following the completion of their master's program, they enrolled at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Urban Education. Barbara H. was enrolled in the doctoral program from 2012 to 2019.
