Matthew Thurgood

Matthew Thurgood has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Matthew began their career at HollyFrontier Corporation, where they worked as a Process Engineer from 2007 to 2011. In this role, they focused on optimizing refinery processes and implementing capital projects to improve plant profitability.

In 2012, Thurgood interned at Cameron, where they led a Senior Leadership Team in formulating a 5-year strategy for an $80 million division. Matthew also developed a sales and marketing strategy to increase valve market share in the oil refining segment.

Thurgood continued their career at Cameron, holding various roles from 2013 to 2016. As a Corporate Development Manager, they managed mergers and acquisitions deals worth over $1 billion in the oilfield services and equipment sector. Matthew also led the largest divestiture in Cameron's history.

Later, Thurgood served as the Director of Business Development, overseeing the development of Cameron's Strategic Account Management program for global customers. Matthew presented the program to the Executive Leadership Team and directed its implementation across the company.

Thurgood's last role before joining BrainStorm Inc. was as the Director of Technology - Valves & Measurement at Cameron. Matthew led a team responsible for product management and new product development, overseeing strategy development for valve products and market segments. Matthew managed an $18 million R&D budget and contributed to annual sales of $1.5 billion.

Currently, Thurgood holds the position of Chief Product Officer & VP of Finance at BrainStorm Inc. Matthew began their tenure in January 2021, following their role as the VP of Strategy & Finance at the same company in 2020. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives from 2016 to 2020.

Matthew Thurgood received their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah, where they studied from 2001 to 2008. Matthew later pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Harvard Business School from 2011 to 2013.
