BrandGuard Vents were invented in 2003 by Brent Berkompas while working as a firefighter for the City of San Bernardino, California. He was fighting the 2003 and 2007 California wildfires and saw firsthand the vulnerability of the thousands of homes affected. Watching embers fly directly into homes through unprotected mesh vent openings, Brent knew that something had to be done to prevent this from happening in the future.

Wildfires and bushfires generate ember storms, which spread the fire ahead of the actual front of the fire. BrandGuard Vents offers a unique patented solution that keeps embers out and stops fire from entering your home. BrandGuard is the ultimate ember defense component designed to stop embers from entering your home before the fire arrives.

Your home can be in danger even if you’re not directly in the path of the fire. All dwellings located in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas should be equipped with ventilation systems capable of resisting the ingress of embers, significantly reducing the risks associated with wildfires.

BrandGuard Vents sits within the wider Tenmat Passive Fire Protection Group – a cluster of specialist companies committed to tackling fire safety across a range of sectors, applications, and global locations. The group’s singular goal is to manufacture the highest performance fire protection systems in the world, supported by industry-leading scientific research and an unparalleled service offering. The combined experience of BrandGuard and the Tenmat Passive Fire Protection Group is crucial in developing innovative home hardening solutions, wildfire defense systems, and ember protection services.
