Me'k

Me'k (Miguel Brito) is an Indigenous Ixil leader and specialist in Indigenous peoples' engagement, currently serving as a Senior Advisor at Breakthrough ACTION + RESEARCH since 2021. They have extensive experience in project direction and community outreach, including roles as the General Manager of Maya Interpreters since 2017 and a consultant in project monitoring and evaluation for the Indigenous Development Fund of Guatemala since 2015. Me'k holds advanced degrees in Communication Studies and Linguistics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where they studied from 2011 to 2013, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a focus on Development Management from Universidad Rafael Landívar, obtained in 2008. Previously, they worked as a translator for the Academia de Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala from 2004 to 2010.
