Breed4Food is a consortium established by Wageningen University & Research Centre and four international animal breeding companies: CRV, Hendrix Genetics, Topigs Norsvin and Cobb Europe. We have the ambition to be the world-leading center for research and innovation in livestock genetics.

Animal breeding requires high investments in R&D and long-term commitment to meet changing consumer demands to increase efficiency in the food chain, to reduce the ecological foot print, to minimize the use of antibiotics and to contribute to food safety, better health and welfare of livestock.

The Breed4Food program focuses on the development of innovative research projects in three major research areas. Across the three areas Breed4Food will deliver new applied knowledge, distinct and innovative methods, software and tools, resulting in scientific breakthroughs to enhance genetic improvement to realize a profitable livestock sector, contributing to sustainability and meeting societal challenges.
