Umer Arshad has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Umer started their career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 2016. Umer then interned at Mentor Graphics, working on application programs, kernel porting, and device drivers for embedded hardware platforms in the Nucleus RTOS Team.
In 2017, Umer joined the Web Development Team at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore as a Team Member. Umer later returned to Mentor Graphics as a Software Development Engineer, where they worked on the implementation, development, and porting of CAN/LIN protocols for automotive controllers and architectures.
From 2018 to 2020, Umer worked at Mentor Graphics as a Senior Software Development Engineer, focusing on bootloaders and legacy non-Autosar based proprietary software solutions for car manufacturers. Umer also developed in-house embedded software for automotive electronics, based on communication network protocols.
In 2021, Umer worked as a Freelance Software Engineer. Umer developed backend systems for a SOP violation detection system, as well as worked on Raspberry Pi development for a services management and monitoring system. In 2022, they freelanced as a Software Engineer for PentaLoop, supporting file upload and download from OneDrive, and as an ESP32 Firmware Developer for Toptal, developing firmware for an ESP32-based screen.
Most recently, Umer joined Afiniti in 2020 as a Software Engineer and progressed to the roles of Senior Software Engineer, Service Lead - Lead Software Engineer, and Service Lead - Expert Software Engineer. In these roles, they worked on various projects, including enhancing service-level-arbitration, fixing memory leaks and bugs, and adding features for the High Availability proprietary system.
Umer's most recent position is as a Software Engineer at Breu, starting in 2023.
Umer Arshad completed their Master of Science (MS) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Information Technology University from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, between 2014 and 2018. Before entering college, they completed their FSc Pre-Engineering from Punjab College, Lahore. Additionally, Umer Arshad has obtained several certifications in various fields such as AWS Elastic Container Service (AWS ECS), Devops, Golang, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform Basics, Linux Timers Implementation & Design, Linux System Programming Techniques & Concepts, Fundamentals of Backend Communications and Protocols, Fundamentals of Networking for Effective Backend Design, Webservices API Testing with Postman, Advanced ESP32, Mastering MQTT, C++ Advanced Topics, Hands-on Introduction to Linux Commands and Shell Scripting, AWS Solutions Architect, Debugging C Code, C++ Templates and the STL, and Getting Started with Ansible. These certifications were earned from institutions like KodeKloud, Dice Analytics, Udemy, LinkedIn, Coursera, Simplilearn, and Genese Academy, between 2022 and 2023.
