David Short has worked in a variety of roles in the design industry since 1997. David began their career as a Freelance Art Director at Design Group, Inc. in 1997. In 1998, they worked as a Graphic Designer at Arthur Andersen and founded their own Design Consultant and Educator business. In 1999, they worked as a Freelance Director at Jones Worley and Art Director at both Project Center and oneCARE. In 2010, they were an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design/Photography (Limited Term) at University of West Georgia, and in 2012 they were an Assistant Professor of Art (Limited Term) at Kennesaw State University. Since 2014, they have been an Associate Professor of Art+Design and Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
David Short completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Typeface Design at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2018. From 2008 to 2011, they earned an MFA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. David also completed a BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University between 1991 and 1998.
