Matthew Hamlet has worked in a variety of roles since 2007. Theirfirst job was as an FX Trader at Deutsche Bank, where they were responsible for spot FX trading and managing Deutsche Bank's e-commerce trading system. In 2010, they became a Junior Trader at Tibra Capital. In 2011, they were a Tutor at The University of Queensland, as well as Director of Hamlet & Company, a business and IT consulting firm. Matthew also held a Summer Intern role at CSIRO in 2012, where they worked on a Natural Language Processing/Artificial Intelligence project. From 2012 to 2016, they worked as a Casual and then a Senior Optimisation Consultant and SCOPTA Product Manager at Biarri. In 2018, they began working as an Optimisation Lead Manager at Bridj, where their key responsibilities include setting priorities for the product and the business with the senior leadership team, and managing the data analytics team.

Matthew Hamlet began their educational journey in 1998, when they attended Brisbane Grammar School. In 2003, they moved to the University of Melbourne, where they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (in Actuarial Studies) in 2005. Matthew then attended The University of Queensland, where they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Computational Science in 2014, and a Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Science in Mathematics in 2015. In 2006, they also completed a Bachelor (Honours) in Commerce (in Finance) at The University of Queensland.
