Brownstone Tutors is New York City’s premier source for test prep and academic coaching. For more than a decade, we’ve been training students for admission to highly competitive colleges, top-tier independent schools and magnet public high schools. The secret to our success: uncompromising standards and deep understanding of each student’s individual needs.

Brownstone Tutors was founded in 2007 on the premise that learning takes work. It’s a basic, inescapable fact: the more students apply themselves, the more they are likely to learn. Which is why one of the characteristic qualities of our elite corps of tutors is the ability to inspire effort. But there is more to it than that. In addition to getting students to work hard, the best teachers also reduce the amount of effort required, that is to say, they enable students to learn more in less time. Our expert instructors are adept at presenting material in such a way as to make it easier for their students to digest, retain, and apply the information being transmitted.

And there’s even more to it than that. In addition to offering exceptional instruction, Brownstone Tutors has developed an organizational structure — everything from hiring tutors to billing for services — that is designed to ensure that your specific interests are met, that our success is entirely contingent on yours. We tailor our services to match the needs of each individual. Whatever the challenge — a difficult course or a high-stakes standardized test or an entire application process — Brownstone Tutors possesses both the know-how and the dedication necessary to help you achieve the best possible outcome!
