Broxbourne Big Local is a relatively new organisation – we established as a Limited Company in 2019 and registered as a charity in 2022. 

Our Vision is of “An integrated community with a strong sense of belonging that welcomes all and supports and strengthens the lives of every person in Broxbourne” and we have a mission “To provide opportunities that enable residents of Broxbourne to come together to learn, have fun, make friends and thrive”

A key achievement for residents and for BBL as a charitable company has been preventing the demolition of Wormley Community Centre and securing the 999 year lease. This was following 4 years of consultation and negotiation with Broxbourne Borough Council to save it from demolition. The Centre is an important catalyst for bringing people together in all sorts of ways, enabling connections, relationships, growth through learning new things and overcoming challenges together. 

The Centre is still a work in progress to achieve its full potential and ensure its survival into the future – we have a phased plan of physical improvements and additions to the building to achieve this.  

The current small group of Trustees of Broxbourne Big Local are local people who are committed to proactively meet the needs of people in the borough and enable them to build on their current skills, networks, knowledge.

We need the support of more trustees to help shape our future and ensure that we continue to deliver our vital work in building a cohesive and sustainable community together.
