Eric Monnet is currently the Directeur d'études at EHESS - École des hautes études en sciences sociales since September 2019 and serves as an éditeur at Vie des Idées and Revue Tracés, roles held since 2011 and 2005, respectively. Monnet has held various academic positions, including Visiting Scholar at Bruegel and Ghent University since 2012. Previously, Monnet worked as a Senior Research Economist at Banque de France from 2013 to 2019 and as a Research Economist earlier in the same institution. A visiting scholar at Rutgers University in early 2012, Monnet obtained a PhD in economic history from Paris School of Economics and completed studies at Ecole normale supérieure de Lyon. Educational qualifications also include a stint at Columbia University in 2007-2008. Monnet's early career involved an internship with the DGCCRF - Ministère de l'économie, de l'industrie et de l'emploi.
