James Cogels has held various positions in the legal field since 2005. From 2005 to 2010, they worked as an Attorney and Trainee Lawyer at Dal & Veldekens, where they were involved in commercial and civil law research and litigation, as well as drafting of legal advice. From 2010 to 2015, they were a Legal Counsel at Accenture, where they were responsible for reviewing and negotiating medium to complex engagements and contracts. In 2013, they became the Editorial Director, Co-Creator, Co-Author, and Co-Director of Babel Express, a documentary series produced by Arte Europe, Wrong Men, Rtbf, and Canvas. Lastly, from 2015 to present, they have been a Co-Founder of Bsit, the best childcare app in the universe.

James Cogels obtained their Law degree from the Université libre de Bruxelles between 1998 and 2004. James then completed an Erasmus Droit from Universidad Pontificia Comillas from 2003 to 2004, followed by a REACT Expert course in conflict prevention and crisis management from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2004. From 2007 to 2009, they obtained an LLM in European and comparative law from Ghent University. Lastly, they completed a Master en Innovation et Création de Contenus Médiatiques (La Sorbonne, Paris) from 2013 to 2014.
