Akila Malik

Akila Malik has extensive work experience in various healthcare organizations. Starting in 2004, they worked at Northwest Cancer Center | Millennium Physicians, where they served as the Director of Clinical Operations, Practice Administrator, and Director of Finance & Reimbursement. In this role, they were accountable for overseeing clinical operations, revenue cycle management, purchasing, scheduling, and strategic initiatives.

From 2009 to 2013, Akila worked at Apria Healthcare as a Senior Strategy / Pricing Leader. Here, they collaborated with stakeholders, conducted statistical analysis, and ensured compliance with company and industry protocols.

In 2014, they joined DaVita Medical Group and held multiple positions, including Senior Director Finance and Director of Healthcare Economics. In these roles, they provided financial and analytical leadership, managed teams, and drove measurable change across care management, contracting, and strategic partnerships.

Akila then worked at Hoag Hospital from 2020 to 2022 as the Principal of Value-Based Finance and Operations. Here, they provided leadership and direction for the overall operation of a non-profit regional healthcare delivery network, developed care protocols, and established committees to achieve financial and non-financial goals.

Currently, Akila is the System Vice President of Government Programs, Value Based Care at Baylor Scott & White Health, a position they started in 2022.

In between their roles at DaVita Medical Group and Hoag Hospital, they also worked at Rancho Health MSO as the Vice President of Population Health. In this position, they designed and implemented programs focused on population health and value-based care, with responsibility for care management, transitions of care, risk adjustment, and growth.
