Derek Gerson has a diverse work experience in various industries. Derek began their career as a Program Officer at the Spanish Agency of Cooperation for International Development in 2011, where they inputted financial data and evaluated regression models. In 2013, they worked as a Data Analysis Intern at American Lawyer Media, where they validated client data and optimized account data flow. Derek then founded and led a start-up project called Equalyst from 2012 to 2014, aiming to support LGBT youth. Derek recruited advisors, developers, and interns for the project and secured fiscal and legal sponsorship. Derek then worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Boutique Investment Advisory from 2014 to 2015, where they conducted due diligence research and built financial models. Derek also attended Dev Bootcamp in 2015, where they gained skills in web development. From 2015 to 2018, they worked as a Software Engineer at Neighborly, contributing to software development. Currently, they are working as a Software Engineer at Bugcrowd Inc.

Derek Gerson completed their undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2012. Following their undergraduate studies, Derek attended Dev Bootcamp in 2015, where they specialized in Full Stack Web Development. Additionally, in September 2014, Derek obtained a certification in "Investment and Valuation in Practice" from the New York School of Finance.
