BuildAIOS is an open-source initiative building an AI-first operating system platform on Fedora Linux. Our vision is to create a secure, governed, and extensible foundation where AI agents become first-class components of the operating system rather than standalone applications. The project focuses on agent runtimes, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration, workflow orchestration, trust-aware execution, environment management, and resilient AI infrastructure. BuildAIOS is developed in the open with a strong emphasis on transparency, modular architecture, community collaboration, and open-source best practices. We welcome developers, researchers, designers, and contributors interested in AI systems, Linux, operating systems, distributed systems, and infrastructure engineering to help shape the future of AI-native computing.
