Gavin Steyn

Gavin Steyn has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and development. Gavin began their career at Comverse Network Systems as a Principal Engineer, where they played a key role in the development of a game server prototype and successfully expanded the production team. Gavin then joined Oracle as a Principal Software Engineer, where they led a team and created a tool that helped discover and diagnose bugs in web services.

Following that, Steyn worked at MetraTech Corp as a Principal Software Engineer, leading a team to build an agreements-based billing system and introducing dependency injection into the company's software. Gavin later joined ProTeck Valuation Services as a Senior Software Engineer, and eventually took on the role of Software Development Manager. During their time there, they re-architected a download manager application and led an implementation team.

Currently, Steyn is employed at Buildium LLC as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, they have played a critical role in building a microservice for handling payments to an external provider and led a team in implementing highly-requested features for homeowner associations.

Gavin Steyn obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, which they completed between the years 1987 and 1991. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Rochester, where they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Computer Science from 1991 to 1993.
