Busaosowo Foundation is a youth-driven nonprofit organization working to prevent drug abuse and violence in hard-to-reach communities and urban slums in Nigeria. Through life and vocational skills, sports and arts, we empower young people with the skills needed to navigate life without having to turn to drugs or violent activities like cultism.

Since our inception in 2018, we have worked tirelessly with over 10,000 young persons and mobilized over 20 communities to take action against drug abuse. Our ambassador’s and peer-to-peer heroes programs supports teenagers to lead drug abuse prevention campaigns in small circles. The result has been more teenagers feeling empowered to use their time, skills and potentials for the benefit of others.
After three years of visiting several primary and secondary schools,our team sat back and reviewed the impact of our work. We came to the conclusion that creating awareness about drug abuse alone would not deliver the expected results. In the absence of credible and meaningful alternatives to drug abuse,even the best of awareness/advocacy will fall short.
 At the end of the year review conducted in 2021,we changed our approach to begin to implement evidence-based drug abuse prevention projects and in 2022,we started working with schools for 3-18months designing and implementing school-based drug abuse prevention programs.
 In 2022,we designed and published the first local content on drug abuse prevention in Nigeria that has paved the way for schools to integrate drug abuse prevention into the conventional education curriculum.
Our vocational skills interventions provide credible alternatives out of poverty for our beneficiaries. Some of our beneficiaries have abandoned gangs to pursue the skills they learnt and are today supporting themselves through school.
We took a step further in 2025 by launching the Spread Hope Not Drugs(SHD) Arts Group where we are training young people to use their voice to speak up against drug abuse.
