Robert Shaw has over 30 years of experience in the field of CAD and integrated circuit design. Robert started their career at Motorola Semiconductor in 1989 as a CAD Support Engineer, aiding design teams in schematic capture and physical layout using various CAD tools. Robert then worked as a Senior Staff Engineer in the Unified Design System Lab, where they co-managed a project to develop automation tools for analog device library creation. In 1998, they became the Principle Staff Engineer/Scientist, leading a CAD team and developing key analog device libraries. In 2000, they joined Maxim Integrated as a Senior Principal Member of Technical Staff, taking on responsibilities such as developing and maintaining EDA tools and design kits for analog and mixed-signal IC design. In 2019, they joined Butterfly Network, Inc. as a Principal CAD Engineer.

Robert Shaw received their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, where they studied from 1986 to 1991. Robert later pursued their Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the same university from 1991 to 1996.
