Caitlin Ochs

Caitlin Ochs is a National Geographic Explorer and World Freshwater Initiative Grantee, recognized as one of ten Visual Storytellers globally tasked with documenting the Colorado River since March 2023. Ochs has extensive experience in photojournalism, serving as a contributing reporter for The New York Times, Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal, while also providing compelling visuals for BuzzFeed News since 2019. The career includes commercial photography for notable brands such as Spotify, Unilever, and Starbucks, with a focus on authentically conveying brand narratives. Previous roles encompass freelance reporting for the Washington Blade and GlobalPost, where Ochs developed original story ideas and visual essays. Educationally, Ochs holds a B.A. in Environmental Politics and Communications from American University, complemented by experience as a photo lab technician and teaching assistant during studies.
