Scott Mackenzie is currently the CEO of BuzzFeed Japan. Scott has held this position since January 2019. Prior to this, they worked as an Executive Producer and Business Consultant for Film, TV & Production at Universal Music Group from April 2018 to January 2019. There, they were responsible for identifying new revenue opportunities through content production, licensing, and brand tie-ups. Scott also developed concepts for original content featuring local artists and led pitch processes with TV networks and streaming services around commissioning of series, co-production, and casting opportunities. Mackenzie has also worked as the VP of Channels for Universal Networks International at NBCUniversal Media, LLC from September 2008 to March 2018. In this role, they managed a diverse group of approximately 30 people across Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila offices. Scott was also responsible for licensing and producing content for multiple TV channels/VOD services, launching and operating VOD services with partners including Alibaba in China and Avex/NTT Docomo in Japan, and setting the strategic direction for brands including E!, Syfy, and Studio Universal. Mackenzie has a long history of crafting marketing and PR plans to engage with targeted demographic groups.

Scott Mackenzie has a Masters Degree in Regional Studies of East Asia from Harvard University and a BA in Scott'story from the University of Pennsylvania.
