Jun Zhao has extensive work experience in the field of Raman spectroscopy instrumentation and applications. They started their career at Chromex, Inc in 1997 as a Systems Engineer and Principal Scientist, where they invented and developed core Raman technologies and designed various instruments. They also managed R&D, applications, and sales and marketing support for Raman instrumentation. In 2004, Jun Zhao joined Bruker Optics as an Engineering Manager, where they functioned as the company's principal research scientist and chief engineer, leading the research and development of Raman spectroscopy instrumentation and applications. They also managed the engineering team and facilitated technology transfer from Chromex, Inc. Currently, Jun Zhao works at B&W Tek as the Director of Engineering, responsible for overseeing engineering activities and as the Director of R&D and Portable Raman Product Manager from 2015 to 2022.

Afterwards, from 1992 to 1994, Jun Zhao pursued further education at The Ohio State University, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Chemical Physics.
Continuing their academic journey, from 1994 to 1997, Jun Zhao remained at The Ohio State University and completed their education with a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry.
