Alex D. has a long history of professional experience. Alex began their career in 1996 as a Research Scientist at Stottler Henke, where they designed and implemented educational software systems and authored interactive computer-based training. In 2000, they were an Instructor at the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University, where they wrote lesson plans and taught intensive courses in reasoning. In 2001, they were a Technical and Editorial Assistant at HealthWrights. In 2004, they were the Founding/Technical/Poetry Editor at Switchback, where they created the website from scratch and formatted all works in each issue. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Technical Writer as a Consultant. From 2013 to 2015, they were the Chief Architect at EdCast. From 2015 to 2016, they were the Co-Founder of Lab628. From 2016 to 2017, they were the Co-Founder of Sports Data Labs. Finally, they were the Co-Founder of Byga from 2017 to the present.

Alex D. began their educational journey at William & Mary, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Philosophy in 1994. Alex then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University at Buffalo, which they completed in 1996. Finally, in 2002, Alex D. earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing (Poetry) from the University of San Francisco.
