Frank Cañas

Frank Cañas has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Frank is currently a Co-Founder at Byte25 since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Director at Counterhack starting from June 2017. From June 2017 to September 2020, they also held the position of Director of Security Services at Dabble IT.

Frank has had previous experience as an Organic Greengrocer & Proprietor at Natural Food Market from March 2013 to August 2018. Before that, they worked as a Security Consultant at Eastwatch Security from May 2013 to June 2017, where their responsibilities included Security Strategy, Qualys deployment and tuning, and general security consulting for clients such as Reserve Bank of Australia, Transport for NSW, Financial Services, Media, and Gaming industries.

Frank also worked as a TAM Australia/New Zealand at Qualys from November 2011 to May 2013. Frank has a strong background in IT security, with experience as an Executive Manager in various roles at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Frank served as Executive Manager IT Security Policy and Governance from July 2010 to November 2011, Executive Manager IT Security Assessments from February 2006 to November 2011, and Executive Manager Data Services from January 2002 to February 2006.

Early in their career, Frank worked as the Head of Network and Security Design at Communications Design & Management Pty Limited from June 1995 to August 2001. Frank also held positions as a Systems Engineer at Dataplex from 1992 to 1995, and at Datacraft from 1989 to 1991.

Frank Cañas attended Wollongong High School from 1977 to 1982, where they did not pursue any specific degree or field of study. Frank then enrolled at UNSW from 1983 to 1985, focusing on a degree in Science, although no specific field of study is mentioned. Later, from 1998 to 2006, Frank attended the University of New England (AU), where they earned a degree in Computer Science with a focus on Mathematics. In 2013, they obtained the SABSA Foundation Certificate from SABSA.
