John Herr

John Herr serves as the Director of Data Science & AI at ByzFunder since April 2025. Prior experience includes a role as Sr. Data Scientist in Paid Media Marketing at Wizards of the Coast, where notable contributions involved developing a product insights application and a Bayesian Marketing Mix Model for optimizing media spend. At Jiffy.com, John held the position of Manager of Data Science and launched a successful nationwide direct-to-film printing service, also developing proprietary customer segmentation models. Earlier roles included Data Scientist at Frontdoor, Inc., focusing on contractor selection models and cost estimation, and Patent Agent positions at Hogan Lovells and Weaver Austin Villeneuve Sampson, LLP, where John prepared and prosecuted patent applications in various technology domains. Academic credentials include a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara. Additionally, John completed a Data Science Fellowship at Galvanize Inc.
