George Carleton is an Executive Managing Director of C-III Capital Partners and is integrally involved in a variety of C-III businesses particularly commercial loan servicing and investment management. He joined Island Capital Group at its inception in 2003 and also serves as an Executive Managing Director of Island. Mr. Carleton leads the Real Estate Investment and Finance Group at Island Capital. Mr. Carleton also serves as a Vice President of Anubis Advisors, which provides strategic planning, executive management, restructuring, M&A and other financial services to Island Capital Group’s portfolio companies, including C-III Capital Partners.
Before joining Island Capital Group in 2003, Mr. Carleton served as Senior Managing Director of Insignia Financial Group. He was responsible for Insignia’s opportunity funds which invested primarily in securitized real estate debt. Mr. Carleton played an integral role in structuring and executing the securitization of billions of dollars of debt that was secured by real estate controlled by Insignia, including the first stand-alone securitized multi-family loan pool. For 12 years prior to Insignia, Mr. Carleton held various management positions at Travelers Insurance, where he was responsible for managing debt and equity real estate investments.
Mr. Carleton received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Emory University, Florida Atlantic University and American University, where he majored in Chemistry, Finance/Accounting, and Real Estate Development, respectively.
