Daniel Kirk has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Daniel currently serves as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Caldera Heat Batteries Ltd since May 2021. Prior to this role, Daniel worked as a freelancer, where they took paternity leave and also worked on consulting projects from January 2021 until May 2021.
From December 2019 to January 2021, Daniel worked at Emergent Energy as a senior member of a small team, focusing on product and operations. At Emergent Energy, they were involved in developing the company's proposition and product for housing companies (B2B) and energy consumers (B2C).
During the pandemic, Daniel volunteered at Limehouse Aid Food Bank as a Lead Volunteer from May 2020 to November 2020. Daniel recruited and trained volunteers and made significant changes to the food bank processes.
In 2019, Daniel briefly worked at Xoserve as an Innovation Consultant, where they coached a new product development team and helped launch the SwitchStream service.
Daniel also held the position of Head of Innovation at Ofgem from November 2017 to October 2019. During their tenure, they introduced new ways of working, led teams, worked with energy-sector innovators, and influenced retail market policy.
From 2014 to 2017, Daniel worked at Fluxx Ltd. as a Managing Consultant. In this role, they led project teams, focused on service and business design, and facilitated the validation of strategies through low-cost experiments.
Before joining Fluxx Ltd., Daniel worked as a freelance consultant for four years, starting from May 2010 to March 2014. Daniel collaborated with small consultancies, bringing pace, practicality, and commercial thinking to their ideas, and worked on various aspects of innovation and business strategy.
Additionally, Daniel explored their entrepreneurial side by founding their own startup called CrowdHousing - Community Residences in 2013. Daniel spent six months working on the concept before deciding its viability.
Earlier in their career, from October 2008 to April 2010, Daniel worked as a Strategist at Lambie-Nairn, a branding agency that focused on shaping strategies for big brands like Sainsbury's and Hotels.
Daniel Kirk attended The University of Manchester from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Management. Prior to that, from 1998 to 1999, they attended the University of the Arts London for a Foundation degree in Media.
Additionally, Daniel Kirk has acquired several certifications throughout their career. In August 2020, they obtained the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance, the Problem Solving for Continuous Improvement certification from LinkedIn, and the Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I) certification from Scrum.org. Daniel also completed a course titled "The hidden value – Lean in manufacturing and services" offered by the Boston Consulting Group on Coursera in August 2020. Furthermore, in September 2007, they became a certified NLP Practitioner in Life Coaching through Judith Lowe & PPD Learning Ltd.
