Ari Firestone is a Principal Investigator and Scientist at Calico Life Sciences since November 2015, specializing in the development of novel therapeutic strategies for N-Ras-mutant cancers. Previously, Ari served as a Damon Runyon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where research focused on cancer therapies. As a Graduate Student at Stanford University School of Medicine, Ari conducted functional validation and mechanistic characterization of small-molecule inhibitors of the Hedgehog pathway, leading to the identification of four novel compounds that modulate Gli protein function. Early research experience includes work as an Associate Research Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 5-kinases, and as a Research Assistant at Wayne State University. Educational credentials include a PhD in Chemical and Systems Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine and a BA in Biology and Biochemistry from Carleton College.
