Matt Barmack has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Starting in 1997, they worked as an Associate at The Brattle Group until 2000. Following that, they joined Analysis Group as a Manager from September 2000 to October 2006. In 2006, they joined Pacific Gas & Electric and held various roles including Principal, Market Design and Analysis, Principal, Quantitative Analysis, and Principal, Long Term Energy Policy and Planning. In 2009, they worked briefly as a Director at Piedmont Economics. Lastly, they joined Calpine in 2009, where they served as the Director, Market and Regulatory Analysis until December 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President, Market and Regulatory Policy at Calpine since January 2021.
Matt Barmack pursued their education at Harvard University from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained an AB in Economics. Following this, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1992 to 1997, where they completed their Ph.D. in Economics.
