Yin joined CALSTART in 2021 as Data Scientist on the Validation and Assessment team. She focuses on leveraging the power of data analytics and visualization to convey the stories and insights from CALSTART’s ever-expanding data collected to promote clean transport.
Prior to CALSTART, Yin has over five years of experience as climate and transport analyst in several international organizations, including the Transport Global Practice in the World Bank, Global Climate Program in World Resources Institute, and Heavy-duty Vehicle Program in International Council on Clean Transportation. Some of her previous projects included a motorization management project in Ethiopia and Kenya to address the tailpipe emissions, fuel efficiency, safety and the rapid growth of second-hand vehicle fleets, and an urban transport technical assistance in five Latin American cities to facilitate their transition to clean technology transit buses.
Yin graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a Master’s in Information Management and Systems and a Certificate of Applied Data Science. Her capstone project created a web-based tool to explore and visualize the current gaps in equity and scale of California’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. She also holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in Management from Sun Yat-sen University.
