Justin Long

Justin Long is an experienced leader in military and civilian organizations, currently serving as the Change and Communications Manager at CalSTRS since February 2024. Previously, Justin held the position of Commanding Officer at the Surface Combat Systems Training Command San Diego, overseeing the Navy’s largest combat systems schoolhouse and providing education to 8,000 students annually. Other notable roles include Deputy Commodore of Mine Countermeasures Division 31 and Executive Assistant at Navy Recruiting Command, where significant improvements in recruiting efficiency were achieved. With a distinguished naval career spanning two decades, Justin has prepared and briefed intelligence assessments to senior leadership, including the National Security Council, and has earned a reputation for excellence, ranking as the number one Commanding Officer in recruiting for two consecutive years. Justin holds an MBA from the UW Foster School of Business and a Master's in National Security Policy Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
