Since 2011 CYO has been using opera to open up the arts, music and singing to children and young people in our region. It aims to empower young people to develop their artistic skills by providing unique opportunities to engage in all aspects of opera - onstage and backstage. CYO does not charge for participation in its core activities, believing no-one should be excluded from the arts. CYO builds confidence, develops skills and nurtures creative expression in all participants. For young people interested in working in the arts, CYO can be an early step towards a career. CYO has nurtured singers, orchestral players, artistic directors, conductors, designers, stage managers and arts administrators. We are noted for the high quality of our activities and for the impact we have on all who take part.
