Jim Hale

Jim Hale founded FTV Capital, an investment firm specializing in venture capital and private equity investments in fintech companies worldwide. Under Jim’s leadership, FTV Capital expanded to become the leading equity source for growing financial technology providers, with investment teams in New York and San Francisco. Before FTV, Jim was a senior managing partner at BancAmerica Securities (formerly Montgomery Securities) where he founded the financial services corporate finance practice.

Jim performs consulting services for Columbus Strategic Advisors, a firm he co-founded in 2011 to offer strategic advice and practical solutions to high growth, technology-enabled businesses and top consultancies; and for McKinsey & Company, where Jim has served as senior advisor to the Financial Services & Payments practice since 2014. Jim currently serves on the boards of ACI Worldwide, a global electronic payments software company; Mitek Systems, a mobile capture and identity verification technology company; Bank of Marin Bancorp, a commercial and retail bank in Northern California; Nebula Acquisition Corp., a San Francisco-based special purpose acquisition corporation; and Visual Edge Technology, Inc. (private), a national provider of office technology solutions.

Jim earned a B.S. in Finance & Accounting from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. He is a certified public accountant.
