Cyber Incident Management Team Lead at Canopius

Ellen Brookes has a variety of work experience in different roles and industries. Ellen is currently working as a Cyber Incident Response Team Lead at Canopius Group since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Technical Support Specialist at K&L Gates from August 2021 to March 2023. Ellen also had a role as a Library and Community Centre Caretaker at the City of Rockingham from March 2021 to February 2023. Additionally, they worked as a Customer Service Assistant at Target from March 2021 to February 2023. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Interactive Motivator and Entertainer/Customer Service Representative at The Entertainment Bank from November 2020 to August 2021. Ellen also gained experience as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Murdoch University from March 2018 to August 2021. As a teaching assistant, they provided educational support and performed administrative duties. As a research assistant, they analyzed and organized data sets and contributed to academic publications. Ellen worked as a Convention Facilitator in a freelance capacity from July 2017 to August 2021. In addition, they worked as a Retail Sales Assistant at Rebel Sport from November 2017 to December 2019. Ellen also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of British Columbia from September 2016 to May 2017, and as a Substitute Teacher at Kinder Kids International School from April 2016 to July 2016.

Ellen Brookes completed a Certificate in CyberSecurity from The University of Western Australia in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science and Government from The University of British Columbia, which they attended from 2016 to 2018. Before their master's degree, Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Relations and Affairs from Ritsumeikan University, where they studied from 2013 to 2016.

In addition to their formal education, Ellen has obtained several certifications. These include the Unix Badge from PentesterLab (obtained in July 2023), the CompTIA Security+ ce Certification from CompTIA (obtained in June 2023), and the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification from (ISC)² (obtained in November 2022). Ellen also holds various certifications related to coding, including SheCodes Responsive, SheCodes Basics Add-On, SheCodes Plus, and SheCodes Basics, all obtained from SheCodes between 2022 and 2023. Moreover, Ellen has certifications in Giving and Receiving Feedback and Project Management Skills for Leaders from LinkedIn, both obtained in March 2023. Lastly, they have completed Splunk Fundamentals 1 from Splunk in July 2021.
