David Hearnden

David Hearnden is a distinguished engineer at Canva, where experiences also include roles as Chief Technology Officer and Technology Wrangler since November 2012. Prior to their tenure at Canva, David served as a Senior Software Engineer at Google from January 2008 to November 2012 and was a PhD student at DSTC Pty Ltd from 2003 to 2007. Additional experience includes working as a tutorial assistant at the School of ITEE, University of Queensland from 2000 to 2006, an intern at Sun Microsystems Laboratories in 2004, and as a vacation student at DSTC in 2001. David holds a PhD in Software Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours from The University of Queensland.
