Maiko S. serves as Senior Legal Counsel for Intellectual Property at Canva since August 2021, overseeing global trademark, domain, and brand protection strategies while leading a dedicated team. Prior to this, Maiko contributed to intellectual property at Canva as Legal Counsel, playing a versatile role as part of a small team. Maiko has shared expertise as a speaker at several conferences, including the World Trademark Review Brand Strategy Summit and SXSW Sydney, discussing brand protection and infringement issues. Previous experience includes serving as Legal and Business Affairs Counsel at Flying Bark Productions, Solicitor at Terri Janke and Company, and various roles in commercial litigation and legal support. Maiko holds dual Bachelor's Degrees in Law and International/Global Studies from the University of Technology Sydney, and has also engaged in important discussions on Indigenous intellectual property considerations.
