Simon Newton is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in infrastructure and cloud systems. They served as a Distinguished Software Engineer at Uber from 2015 to 2022, where they focused on datacenters, cloud computing, and automation, and led the development of Crane, Uber's next-generation infrastructure stack. Prior to Uber, Simon held roles at Google, where they contributed to the design of Google Cloud Platform networking services and managed the Edge SRE team. Currently, Simon is the Head of Platforms at Canva, leading diverse initiatives including Cloud Platform and Developer Experience, and also advises for Cielara AI and Ponyrun. They hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Honors) and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems from The University of Western Australia.
