Raphael has a BSc (Eng) degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, and an MSc (Med) degree in biomedical engineering from UCT for a thesis that focused on the design of the breast platform for CapeRay’s dual-modality Aceso system. His work experience includes serving as a consultant to Strait Access Technologies for whom he designed a 3D printed heart valve for fatigue testing of infused bovine pericardial tissues. At Wits Raphael served as President of their Baja team, responsible for the design, manufacture and racing of an off-road vehicle. Through his company BMEC Technologies (https://www.bmec.co/), which he established in 2015, Raph continues to assist CapeRay with the design, manufacture and testing of their patented dual-modality breast imaging systems. He is an inventor on three United States patents that protect the design of CapeRay’s hermetically-sealed breast platform (HSBP).
