John Whitfield is an accomplished engineering executive with extensive experience in leading teams and driving technology initiatives across various industries. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at Capitalize since July 2025, John oversees API solutions for financial institutions. Prior roles include VP of Engineering at Pronto Housing, where John focused on affordable housing compliance, and Principal Consultant at Cadence One-Eighty LLC, providing strategic engineering support to startups. As Head of Engineering at Pinwheel, John significantly grew the engineering team and managed the scaling of systems pre-Series B funding. John’s prior positions include leadership roles at Summer, Plaid/Quovo, Slice, Intent Media Inc., PFS, and Travelocity, showcasing a consistent track record of team growth and system scalability. John holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Performance from Columbia University and an educational background from Stony Brook University.
