Ken Jansen

Manager, Office 365 Support at Capital Power

Ken Jansen has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. Ken started their career at Critical Control Technologies in 2007, where they worked as a Programming Analyst and gained experience as a Government Contractor for the Alberta and BC Governments. Ken also served as a Project Manager and Team Leader. At this company, they were the lead resource for the B.C. Assessment Authority and a developer resource for both the Alberta Employment and Immigration SharePoint Repository and APEGGA LiveLink Repository.

In 2010, Ken joined BC Assessment as a Programming Analyst, where they worked until 2011. In this role, they contributed to programming and analysis projects.

Following this, Ken worked at CGI in 2011 as a Data Warehouse Developer. Their responsibilities included developing data warehouses for clients.

From 2011 to 2013, Ken was employed at EPCOR as a System Analyst, contributing to system analysis and development projects.

In 2013, Ken joined Stantec as a SharePoint Developer, specializing in developing SharePoint solutions.

From 2014 to 2020, Ken worked at WCB-Alberta as an IT Architect. Ken was responsible for various tasks, including architecting the WCB Records Management System using SharePoint, deploying the WCB Architecture for Application Lifecycle Management, developing standards and governance for SharePoint, Automated Testing, and TFS, and leading architectural initiatives for IT projects. Ken also conducted research on new technologies and provided support and training for Information Management teams. During their tenure, they achieved TOGAF 9 and I.S.P. certifications.

Most recently, Ken has joined Capital Power in 2020 as a Manager, Office 365 Support.

Ken Jansen completed their education in the field of computer science. Ken obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Lethbridge in 2007. Prior to that, they attended NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) and received a diploma in Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology in 2005. In addition to their formal education, Ken also acquired several certifications throughout their career. In 2015, they obtained the TOGAF® Certification Program from The Open Group and became an Information Systems Professional (ISP) through CIPS (Canada’s Association of I.T. Professionals). More recently, Ken received certifications such as Microsoft Planner Essential Training from LinkedIn in 2021 and Prioritizing Effectively as a Leader and Transitioning from Technical Professional to Manager, both in 2020, also from LinkedIn.
