Dean Matter is a Machine Learning Engineer at Capitec Bank since January 2020, where involvement includes diverse data science projects such as customer segmentation, image classification, time series forecasting, and financial forecasting using various tools including PyTorch, pandas, and sklearn. Additionally, Dean played a key role in co-founding a data lake and an ML platform in AWS, while also supporting data scientists across multiple divisions and serving as a technical interviewer. Previously, Dean co-founded Bamboozles, a FMCG brand, and founded Harrington's Watches, a watch brand, both between 2017 and 2022. Dean holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Operations Research and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Statistics, both from Stellenbosch University.
