Gideon de Wet

Gideon de Wet has over two decades of experience in the financial technology sector, specializing in card product engineering and digital payments. Currently serving as Product Head for Card Product Engineering at Capitec since July 2017, highlights of Gideon's achievements include the successful implementation of EMV3DS for frictionless e-commerce, certification of major wallets like Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay, and the development of various P2P and QR payment solutions. Prior to Capitec, Gideon held roles at Standard Bank Group as Payments Technical Lead and Business Analyst, focusing on card payment engine programming. Experience at Absa involved significant contributions as a Business Analyst and System Custodian for banking systems. Early career experiences included system administration roles at Business Connexion. Gideon holds a Master of Science degree in Computing and two additional qualifications in Information Systems from the University of South Africa.
