John MacKenzie

John MacKenzie has an extensive work experience in the mining industry. John is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Capstone Copper since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of CEO: Mining at Audley Capital Advisors LLP from November 2013 to March 2022. John also founded and served as the Executive Chairman at Mantos Copper from September 2015 to March 2022. In addition, John has worked at various positions in Anglo American, including Member of Executive Committee & CEO: Copper, CEO: Zinc Operations, General Manager: Minera Loma de Niquel, and Vice President: South American Operations. John has also held roles at KAZ Minerals as a Non Executive Director from March 2015 to May 2021, and at Horizonte Minerals Plc as a Non Executive Director from July 2023 to present. John started their career at AngloGold Ashanti as a Mining Engineer from January 1990 to January 1995. Prior to that, they worked at Anglo American Industrial Corporation as a Senior Divisional Manager: Business Development from February 1995 to August 1998. Overall, John MacKenzie has a diverse and extensive background in the mining industry, with a focus on executive leadership roles.

John MacKenzie has a strong educational background in various fields. John attended the University of the Witwatersrand from 1986 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a focus on Mining. From 1991 to 1993, they pursued a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the same university. Later, they enrolled at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 1995 to 1999, completing a Master's in Business Leadership with a specialization in finance. To further enhance their Business Management skills, John attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 2004.
