Senior Vice President, Risk, Esg, & General Counsel at Capstone Copper

Wendy King has an extensive work experience in various companies. Wendy started their career as an International Tax Specialist at KPMG Canada in 1996 and later worked as a Tax Lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP from 1998 to 2001. Wendy then joined Weyerhaeuser as a Senior Legal Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary from 2001 to 2012. Wendy also served as a Director on the Board of Directors at VIA Rail Canada from 2007 to 2012. Wendy held multiple roles at Central 1 Credit Union from 2012 to 2014, including SVP Government Relations, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary. In 2014, they became the Senior Vice President, Risk, ESG, & General Counsel at Capstone Copper. Additionally, Wendy worked as an Adjunct Professor at The University of British Columbia from 2014 to 2017.

Wendy King has a diverse education history. Wendy obtained a Certified Director certification from the National Association of Corporate Directors in 2021. In 2013, they completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School. In 2006, they earned an ICD.D degree from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Wendy holds dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Columbia Business School and the University of California, Berkeley, which they achieved in 2003. Their earlier education includes a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Tax from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1997 and a Doctor of Law (JD) from The University of British Columbia in 1995. Additionally, they hold a Competent Boards global certification and designation in ESG, obtained in 2023, as well as certifications from the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2021 and 2009 respectively.
