Peter Amelunxen

Peter Amelunxen has extensive work experience in the mining industry. Peter began their career as a Process Engineer at Minnovex Technologies Inc in 1998 and worked there until 2003. Peter then joined Freeport McMoRan / Cerro Verde as a Sr. Metallurgist from 2003 to 2005, followed by a role as a Sr. Process Engineer from 2005 to 2007. Peter was later promoted to Superintendent, Operations from 2007 to 2008.

In 2008, Peter joined Aminpro as a Director and was later promoted to President, serving in this role from 2008 to 2018. Peter then transitioned to Hudbay Minerals Inc. as the VP of Technical Services from 2018 to 2022.

Currently, Peter Amelunxen holds the position of Vice President of Technical Services at Capstone Copper, starting in 2022. Peter is also set to become the Senior Vice President of Technical Services in August 2023.

Peter Amelunxen obtained their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining from the University of Arizona in the years 1994 to 1998. Peter then pursued a Master of Science degree in Mining, Metals, and Materials Sciences from McGill University from 1999 to 2002. Additionally, they have acquired several certifications, including Professional Engineer from the Arizona Board of Technical Registration, Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and Professional Engineers Ontario. Peter is also a registered member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration.
