Principal Climate Modeller at CarbonPool

Oleksandr Kit has extensive experience in climate and data analysis, with a focus on climate change impacts and risk assessment. Oleksandr has held various roles including Principal Climate Modeller at CarbonPool, Climate Risk Consultant at The World Bank, and Senior Consultant Climate & Data at Sustainserv. Oleksandr also has experience in IT and geo analytics, having served as the Head of IT and Geo Analytics at MACS Energy & Water. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the GeoData Institute, where they developed software systems for data management and analytics. Additionally, Oleksandr has conducted research on climate change impacts at the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Oleksandr started their career as a GIS Engineer at Visicom and gained internship experience at Luftbild und Planung GmbH and Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center.

Oleksandr Kit holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Geography from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, which they obtained from 2009 to 2013. Oleksandr also has a Master's degree in Water and Coastal Management from the University of Bergen (UiB) from 2006 to 2007. Additionally, they completed a Mestrado degree in Gestão de Águas e Costas from Universidade do Algarve in 2006, and a Master's degree in Gestión de Costas y Agua from Universidad de Cádiz in 2005-2006. Oleksandr Kit's earlier education includes a Master's degree in Ecology and Hydroecology from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, which they obtained from 1999 to 2005.

Oleksandr has also obtained various certifications throughout their career, including training in Green Bonds from IFC - International Finance Corporation, Introduction to Sustainable Finance from UN CC:Learn, Managing Teams from LinkedIn, and Agile User Stories Planning from the Project Management Institute, among others.
