Maite Matheu

Maite Matheu is currently the Country Director at CARE, where they continue to advocate for social justice and progress towards sustainable development goals, with a strong focus on gender equality and women's empowerment. With extensive experience in the international cooperation development sector since 2004, Maite has held various leadership roles, including Country Director at Oxfam in Guatemala and Oxfam International in Colombia, where they were responsible for strategic program quality and advocacy efforts. They hold a Master's degree in Economics and Development from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras and have furthered their education with certifications in project evaluation and gender studies. Throughout their career, Maite has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing organizational effectiveness and promoting civil society participation in key initiatives.
