Matthew Clayson

Matthew Clayson is a Managing Director at BasedOn, an independent brand strategy and identity design studio, where they facilitate strategic planning and align teams towards revenue and profitability goals. Previously, they held various roles including Chief Operating Officer at Detroit Trading Company, leading cross-functional teams to secure the company’s position as a top provider of automotive leads. Additionally, Matthew served as the Founding Executive Director for Design Core Detroit, where they played a pivotal role in securing UNESCO City of Design status for the city. They hold a Juris Doctorate in International Law, Intellectual Property, and Corporate Law from Wayne State University Law School.
