CareLoop Health is transforming care for people living with severe mental illness (SMI). Backed by over a decade of NHS-led research, CareLoop’s digital platform uses predictive analytics and real-time monitoring to help healthcare teams detect early warning signs of psychosis relapse - and intervene before crisis hits.  
 
The platform has been rigorously tested for clinical efficacy and cost efficiency in five randomised controlled trials. In a study published in The Lancet Psychiatry, use of CareLoop alongside standard care led to a 50% reduction in relapse events and a 33% reduction in hospital costs.  
 
Co-designed with patients, clinicians, and researchers, CareLoop is a Class I medical device, ISO 13485-certified, DTAC-compliant and recommended by NICE’s Early Value Assessment. The platform is currently being piloted across multiple NHS Trusts.  
 
Psychosis affects 1 in 100 people, with only 20% achieving full recovery. For the remaining 80%, the annual relapse risk is 25% - with each episode more resistant to treatment and more disruptive to lives. Healthcare systems bear this financial burden disproportionately. In the UK, psychosis consumes 4% of the NHS budget; in the US, it accounts for $60 billion annually, with half spent on inpatient care. The lifetime cost of treating someone with psychosis is about six times the cost of treating someone with heart disease.  While medication can help, side effects often lead to poor adherence, fuelling a cycle of relapse and readmission.  
 
CareLoop integrates seamlessly into existing care pathways, empowering both clinicians and patients with timely insights. We're developing configurable modules for bipolar disorder, as well as screening tools for postnatal depression in English, Urdu, Arabic, and Cantonese. CareLoop Health is a spinout from the University of Manchester.
