John W Epling

John W Epling, Jr is a seasoned medical professional with extensive experience in public health, preventive medicine, and population health. Currently serving as Medical Director for Ambulatory Quality and Population Health and Associate Medical Director for Population Health at Carilion Clinic since March 2017, Epling is also a Professor and Vice-Chair of Research & Population Health at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, holding similar roles within the Department of Family & Community Medicine. Previously, Epling held multiple academic positions at Upstate Medical University from September 1999 to March 2017, including Professor and Chair of Family Medicine, and served as a staff physician at US Naval Hospital Family Practice Residency and US Naval Hospital Guam. Epling's academic credentials include an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine, an M.S.Ed in Instructional Design from Syracuse University, and an A.B. in Russian Studies from Brown University.
