Matt McHenry is a Principal Software Engineer at Carnegie Learning, where they have developed the Cognitive Tutor, a widely used math and literacy tutoring program for 600,000 students across the nation. With a BS in Computer Science and Philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University, they began their career as an intern at DynaVox Technologies, where they designed a comprehensive test plan for a file system. Since joining Carnegie Learning in 2000, Matt has taken on leadership roles, managing a team of developers and overseeing key aspects of the development process while fostering collaboration with cognitive scientists and subject matter experts. They are the inaugural and only two-time winner of the developer of the year award.
